Christmas is near, the season of love – so what is more convenience then to talk about the Cartier LOVE bracelet – that classic bracelet that keeps your love locked down.

The LOVE bracelet is a symbol of true and eternal love and is a very popular accessory in the fashion industry and among celebrities. The bracelet was first introduced in 1970s, designed by Aldo Cipullo (1936-1984) who emigrated from Italy to New York City in 1959. Aldo Cipullo began working for Cartier in 1969 and one of his first designs was the LOVE bracelet, which became very popular very fast. The LOVE bracelet is worn by so many of us and his design is very modern with a little rock and roll while being very chic and classic.

When the bracelet was introduced and launched, Cartier wanted to promote the concept of the locking mechanism; you can only remove the bracelet with a screwdriver and another person helping you, this was a symbol of a true committed relationship between two people. Therefor Cartier would not let ordinary people buy the LOVE bracelets for themselves, so they gave away 25 LOVE bracelets to the most famous couples such as Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, Duke and Duchess of Windsor and Sophia Loren and Carlo Ponti.

The Love bracelet is one of the most iconic and recognizable jewellery designs of all time, his creation really did make a mark on the world of high jewellery and in the fashion industry. It is a bracelet with a timeless appeal and can be worn of both men and women – therefor a great investment.

The LOVE bracelet is a valuable bracelet and stands out for something we all want in life; “Love has become too commercial, yet life without love is nothing — a fat zero. What modern people want are love symbols that look semi-permanent — or, at least, require a trick to remove. After all, love symbols should suggest an everlasting quality.” – said by Aldo Cipullo in 1972.

Although the first LOVE bracelets represented love and commitment between two people, today it can stand for anything – a new job, the birth of your child, a Christmas present or even a gift for yourself. Today the LOVE bracelet doesn’t have to be symbolized with a romantic relationship, the symbolism is what the person who wears it puts in it – as long as there are love and affection between the giver and the receiver of the jewellery. As Aldo Cipullo said; “Jewelry has to be part of a person. It enters into the psychology of the person, it always represents love, affection — all this kind of symbolism. That is why jewelry will never die.”

I hope that you may be surrounded by LOVE!
